Happy Holidays from all us at Harlem Township Heritage!

Santa's Arrival!
What a way to start of the holiday season here at Harlem Township with lovely gathering of many in the park witnessing the arrival of Santa and enjoying some wagon rides.

People braved the cold (mid 20s) to come out and enjoy our Winter in the Park Festivities!

5:00 pm - Opening
Families were already walking around the park looking at the decorations and filling their cups with hot chocolate.  Some even got a sneak peak at Santa House, eagerly waiting his 6:00 pm arrival!

5:30 pm - Lighting of the Tree
With help from our announcers, many gathered around the basebal field to see the lighting of the tree that happened at 5:30 pm.  We were led in carols by a volunteer who had us all singing together as a community.  What a magical moment to have witnessed.

5:45 pm - Wagon Rides
Wagon rides started promptly soon after the lighting of the tree.  We had a sign up sheet and our volunteers got up to 260 people who enjoyed a wagon ride around the park!

6:00 pm - Santa's Arrival
Santa's sleigh had to land in an open area and the firemen at Harlem Township were very kind to go pick him and Mrs. Claus and bring them over to the park!  We had close to 100 kids visit Santa and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.  They all got to leave with a gingerbread cookie and a small gift they could take with them.

6:15 pm - Kid's Crafts and Santa's Letters
We had a tent over the basketball court with four tables where you could make four different crafts along with write a letter to Santa and fill in an envelope with a return address to get from Santa.  Craft options were a snowman styrofoam cup, reindeer hat, build your own bead candy cane and make a christmas tree decoration.  We had many kids leave with a smile on their face when they were able to do crafts and knowing they can mail a card to Santa from there.

5:00- 8:00 pm - Bonfire with seats
During the whole event, we had a bonfire going where many sat around to stay warm.  Carols were being sung there as well.

Movie - We had planned to show movies all night, but due to the 26 degrees, the projector couldn't warm up enough to show a movie.  This will have to be an option every year dependant on the weather.
